Marat Bakpayev

Presently, Marat Bakpayev is leading a consulting unit in Central Asia within the division of Leo Burnett, one of the largest global advertising networks. He is also an instructor in Marketing at KIMEP (Kazakhstan Institute of Management, Economics, and Strategic Research), a top tier higher education institution in Kazakhstan. The range of classes that he teaches includes Introduction to Business, Principles of Marketing, Advanced Marketing, Marketing Research, Public Relations, and Social Marketing.

Marat focused his studies during the graduate years at Washington University in St. Louis, MO, on social work and marketing. Primarily, his research focus is in the area of social marketing, cause-related marketing, and brand management. Currently, one of the major fields of his activity is in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility.

Marat also assisted in the organization of a research project with Columbia University in Chu valley, Kazakhstan, where he supervised research activities with the Project Renaissance, HIV prevention study. Earlier he was involved in research activities in the area of social development, web communications, and marketing consultancy.

During the summer semesters, Marat teaches Global Marketing and serves as a local program adviser at the University of Economics in Prague, Czech Republic.
